Earned Media Value (EMV)

The paid-media-equivalent dollar value of organic reach + engagement.

Earned Media Value translates organic reach and engagement into a dollar figure: "if I had bought this reach as paid ads, what would it have cost?" Used to prove ROI on viral posts, influencer drops, and PR moments.

The standard formula: `Reach value = (impressions / 1000) × platform paid CPM`. To that, add weighted engagement values per interaction type — a like is worth less than a share, which is worth less than a click.

EMV is approximate, not absolute. Different agencies use different multipliers, and platform CPMs change. It is best used directionally and consistently — track your own EMV over time rather than benchmarking against another company's claim.
