Rich Results
Visually-enhanced search results powered by schema markup.
Rich results (formerly "rich snippets") are search results enhanced beyond the standard title + URL + description. Examples: FAQ accordions, star-rating badges, recipe cards with prep time, how-to step-throughs, product price + availability, breadcrumb trails.
They are powered by schema markup. Without the structured data, the same content shows as a plain result. With it, you take up 2-3× the real estate and earn higher click-through.
Google sometimes withdraws rich-result support for certain schema types (FAQ rich results were heavily reduced in 2023), so don't bet a content strategy on a single rich-result type. But the underlying schema still helps LLMs and other crawlers parse the page.
